Default GS oil change

For those that do their own oil change, what do you use?

Just put in some Amsoil 5w30 a few minutes ago. I need to start ordering it online, local shop prices are insane.

10w40 is too thick IMO, you'll just lose fuel economy. Any conventional 5w30 run out to 5000 miles and your engine will outlast other components in your car.

True to an extent. If the vehicle is modified (performance), using a higher weight can be helpful. I once used a 5W30 straight Mobil 1, but found this stuff was shearing way too much, felt way too light. Ran a 0W40 Mobil 1 and everything was fine. However, running a 5W50 or 15W50 with all of my modifications, that was too heavy.

In addition, in warmer climates a W40 is perfectly okay, whether a 0W, 5W or 10W.

The German Castrol I and several other RX owners use says 0W30, but actually is more akin to running like a 0W40 when hot. An excellent oil.

They are good filters. I actually use one from K&N, but I have had some friends recently chime into me who have used both and can't see much difference (but K&N is a little easier to install with the **** on the top).
