Default Engine Oil Message

I just changed my oil for the first time on my IS350 yesterday to 5w20. I went to the maintenance panel on my navi and set 5000 miles for my next change.

Today when I started up my car, after hitting the "I Agree" tab, a message came up that said Engine Oil, than Dealership Info. Dealership Info was blank b/c I haven't registered a dealership yet.

My question is, is it telling me to take the car in to check the oil? Or is it just reminding me to register a dealership?

I just hit the button that said dont remind me.

Any clarification would be appreciated. Thanks!

When you say you "set 5000 miles", did you set it to go off at 5,000 additional miles, or at an odometer reading of 5,000 miles?

The maintenance reminder that is part of the NAV system goes by the number of miles you want on the oil you are installing. So, for example, if you want to change oil every 5,000 miles, you enter 5,000 miles in the maintanance setting.

So in other words, setting the miles on the maintenance reminder is independent of the current odometer reading - just indicate how many miles you are willing to go before changing the oil. Does this make any sense? Does this sound like what you did, or am I just restating the obvious :-)
