Default Oil Change Reminder

Hi everyone!

Can someone help me with this question please?

I set the Oil Change interval to to alert me 7500 miles after my last oil change.

That would be in another 2500 miles, BUT when I start the car the display says I should change the oil very soon, the car has 109,900 miles.

So I am guessing that car defaults to telling me to change the oil every 5000 miles from new and is only 100 miles from 110,000 now?

And that overrides my own 7500 miles interval I put into the maintenance software which is not due until 2600 miles from now?

Who is in charge here, me or the car's oil change software?

Is there a procedure someone can give me to shut off the startup change your oil display?

THANKS

Just had this issue and reset the maintenance light yesterday. I also plan to go 7500 miles on full synthetic, but I think the light comes on at 5000 miles even if you set the reminder to 7500. Here's the reset procedure from the owner's manual.

I think it has 2 reminders one you set in the maint screen will pop up on the screen. The other is dash set reminder. I do not think you change the dash cluster reminder only the touch screen reminder.

The reset procedure above will make the dash light disappear

Ok thanks guys, that really does help!

SO, if I do the light reset now then the change oil will disappear when I start the car, AND I still will get some kind of alert when I hit the 2600 more
miles interval I programmed into the Maintenance software?

I think so, but not sure. I have about 2200 miles to go on the 7500 interval, and will find out in a couple of months.

The dash light and the reminder in the infotainment are not connected. The dash light will always go off at a predetermined mileage, the reminder from the infotainment system will go off whenever you set it to.

Yup, I'm pretty sure that's the case. I think the 5000 mile reminder is part of the Lexus dealership owner retirement program.

How will this reminder go off? Will a message appear on the Nav screen?

Yes, at startup it will flash the reminder. It just reminded me to check my tires yesterday after putting 30K on them.
