AC diagnostic?

AC diagnostic?
I ran the AC diagnostic by holding the temp and the recirc button when starting the car, and then proceeded to go on a 15 minute drive. I didn't get any codes or anything.
Heat works fine, cold air doesn't. How long does it take for the system to diagnose? and Will it throw a code if there is no freon? I'm assuming theres no freon in there...
