hey guys i have an 02 is300, whenever i start up the engine the car makes a weird knocking noise and then goes away after a second or two... when i got my oil changed they told me it could be the valves.. they said that they might needed to be adjusted....this noise comes when i rev the engine at bout 3-4 rpms... help me out guys. what do you know..? thanks

What weight oil are they using? What I would do is use synthetic oil preferably Mobil 1 5w30. Toyota engines that tick or knock tend to quiet down with Mobil 1. If you can buy Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment aka VSOT, put 1oz per 1qt of oil. I just used 5ounces of VSOT in my ES330 and boy did it quiet the engine more especially the valve tick. Hope this helps.

deep sounding knock, or just tick. most of the time careful/paranoid auto buffs get bugged over the ticking ( i myself) , come to find out, its just the lifters. but most certainly do the oil routine, couldnt hurt!
