Good thing I stumbled on this. I use synthetic and change at 3,000-3,500 like clock work, so I can strecth it to 5,000 and i'll be ok? I use penziol synthetic drive about 80% highway and around 300-350 a week. When do you guys do your tranny and coolant? I did my coolant 60,000 and tranny at 50,000 and plan to do at those intervals, I got 91k on her now so tranny is comin up end of summer probably. I think my manual says coolant every 30 but nothing about tranny. Do you really have to do coolant every 30k? I though this was long life stuff like 100,000.

 

Coolant just check the color of the coolant its suppose to be pinkish color. Plus it doesn't hurt to flush it (since it probably hasn't been flushed before) i believe 3k oilchanges are okay can be extended to 5k. Heard people who do 3k oil change is wasting money, but i do every 3k so yeah.

 

I'm a little confussed here. and i just read this thing twice now. Are people recommending to use Regular oil instead of Synthetic oil?

 

7500 miles with full synthetic and a Lexus oil filter. Full synthetics last a long time but filters don't, so with 7500 you'll be on the safe side, but you can go up as high as 10,000. Since you got a lot of miles on the car, I would baby it.

3000 mile oil changes are a waste of money even with regular oil, I heard the myth was created by mechanics to get more profit going. Regular oil can easily last 5000, but I just prefer using Full Synthetic.

The only benefit I heard about Regular Oil is for breaking-in an engine for the first 5000 miles.
