Question ES 2000 footbrake light on?

Hello everyone,

I have a year 2000 lexus es 300. Recently, I have had problems with the footbrake light turning on in the dashboard. After starting the car, the footbrake light somehow just stays on when the footbrake is in OFF position. Or sometimes, the footbrake light will go off and then come on (and stays on for a few minutes ) again while driving?

Anyone had the same experience? Or know what could be wrong with my car?

Thanks for your input.

Try adding some brake fluid to the reservoir under the hood.

The warning light you are seeing indicates two things: (1) that the parking brake is engaged and/or; (2) that the brake fluid is low.

The brake fluid level may appear to be okay, but add some anyway. The sensor for the fluid level is very sensitive in these cars.

CUMan hit it right on. I recently came across this problem on my '01 ES, and I had the brake fluid bled, flushed and refilled with DOT 3 fluid. Make sure the fluid is filled to the proper level, or else as CUMan indicated, the sensor will indicate an insufficient level of fluid. That happened to me the day after I got the brake fluid work done, and I had to go back to the service shop to point their mistake out
