Default 1992 LS 400 - P/S Fluid

Understand that the P/S takes Dextron 2 or Dextron 3. My question - Are all Dextron 2 or 3 ATF pink?

I just checked my power steering fluid and it is yellow/amber not pink. Did someone put in the wrong fluid

As I recall, the original PS fluid in my 93 LS was amber. I assume this was the factory fluid.

Perhaps the Dexron sold in Japan is not red. I don't know.

I have slowly changed out my fluid by withdrawing about 4 ounces at a time from the reservoir and replacing it with Dexron. The fluid color is now a cherry red.

That is good to hear because I was afraid that previous owner put in "power steering fluid" which is also amber.

What brand of Dextron are you using?

I would stick with the name brands (Castrol, Valvoline, etc.). I would assume they all meet the same specifications.

I have been using Valvoline Dexron III Mercon. Wal-Mart stocks it.
