Default PS fluid drain and fill method

so it was recently shown to me how dark my power steering fluid has gotten; i was quoted something silly for a flush of the system; i researched on here and found the easiest and cheapest way to do it; i purchased a turkey baster thing for $1.95 and 2 quarts of dexron VI ATF for like $13.00 (VI was the only one they had at the auto store).

i got out about 6oz of old almost completely black PS fluid with the turkey baster thing and preceded to fill it back up. the new fluid is pretty much red. now i'm kinda color blind but is the PS fluid supposed to be red?? i know it was said for us to put in dexron III ATF fluid into the PS reservoir, but i don't believe the previous fluid i had in there was red.

the dexron VI said on the back that it is acceptable for numerous different kinds of fluids dexron III included. if its so dark red its going to give me a hard time to figure out when its almost completely changed after about 4-6 of these drain and fills a day or so apart. i guess i will just go until all 2 quarts are gone??? any suggestions or words of wisdumb¿¿¿

Yep the fluid should be standard AT fluid which is pinkish red. That's what color the original fluid in the PS reservoir was when new. I haven't had to do it on my LS yet but I have done the same process to my 06 and 07 Highlanders.

Basically empty the plastic PS reservoir and then refill with new AT fluid about 3-4 times at intervals of a couple of days. Eventually the fluid will stay nice and clear red. Then you are done for 30k or so.
