I was driving through a parking lot at low speeds(~5mph) and all of a sudden the engine died. I had just filled it up with gas(92octane) 5 minutes before. It was a fairly hot day(low 90s) and had just gone over a smooth speed bump 10 seconds before it died.
The car is a 2000 GS400 with 7500miles on it. Anyone with a similar experience. I'll definitely bring the car in if it happens again. Maybe the computer diags will show something wrong.

Check fuel pump ecu...
I had this happen to my 92 SC300 a while back..see my post in the SC Forum titled "Serious Problem...please help" (i brought it back up to the first page) Anyways, i floored my SC (was going fast) and it died. It ended up that I needed a new fuel pump ECU. Check w/ the dealership to see if that is ur problem b/c u should be able to get a new one under warranty.

GS400-sorry to hear that you had the same problem with my 2000 gs400 @around 8000 miles or so, anyways i had the same problem as u going around 5 miles or so up a little hill stop at the stop sign and suddenly the car dies out luckly no one was behind me. Brought the car back to the dealership at around 10k and from that point on the car is fine now...but keep in mind that my dealership gave me some song and dance about the rpm is set longer for the purpose of having there low emmission standards full of sh!! to me and also they suggested that i drive with the ac switch on and the lights on auto all the time he did show this to me and yes it raised the rpm a little bit that all..but they flat out did not do anything positive to the car...perhaps if more people like us complicate it would on a TSA section, sorry so long hope my 2 cents helps.

engine dying not normal
Thanks for your replies. So far it has not happened again. Bottom line is that the engine should not crap out on us while driving. Period.
The song and dance about turning on the A/C and having your lights on all the time is BS. If the car idles too low with those options off, they should try to adjust the idle then. I agree, if enough people complain, hopefully they will make it a TSB.
I'll mention these problems during my 10K service which is coming up in a few months. Let's see what they have to say then.

that AC and turning lights on is the funniest thing i have ever heard. They get paid to say that s*#^?????? Do they not know what DRLs are???? If we were supposed to drive around w/ our lights on all the time, then why didn't they just wire the lights so they come on when u start the car???????? Hope everything works out for u
