Default Low fuel tank pressure problem.

car = 1999 RX300 AWD 104k miles
Gas tank capacity = 17.2gallons

scenario: I usually fill up when I have 2gallons left. (40-50 miles after the gas light comes up)

problem: when I unscrew the gas cap, I can't hear the pressure escape, which leads me to believe that the fuel tank is underpressurised.

I have no check lights on.

HELP!

Your evap system may has some leaks. Did anybody change the air filter recently?

On the RX, there is one evap hose that connected to the air filter housing and if someone lift up the air filter housing a little hard. It will pull that rubber hose out of the metal pipe.

I'll check it out. The intake filter box was opened not long ago.

thanks

Dennis,
Did you ever find the problem? I noticed the same thing on my RX300 on the last fill up. I usually never let it get that low, but I did last time. I thought it was strange that I didn't hear any noise when I released the gas cap. Let me know.

Here's another recent thread on this, apparently some have the pressure and others not on RXs for some reason. I only notice it in summer, might be Reid pressure issue too?
