Changing a Fuse
How difficult and what is involved in changing the 120 amp alternator fuse for my 2000 GS400? This fuse gets bolted in at the bottom of the two prongs but it doesn't appear easy to get at the fuse bolt.
Wow, that's a big fuse. Let me guess, your car won't start and someone tried to jump start it, but put the jumper cable backward.
You will have to remove couple of 10mm bolts that hold the fuse block and try to open the plastic cover on the bottom side of the fuse block. You will see one 10mm bolt holding one side of the fuse and one 8mm bolt holding on the another side of the fuse. Remove those bolts and install the new fuse.

O.K, open the fuse block cover from the top part. You will see a 10 mm nut and a few plastic clips aroung the white plastic( where all the fuses go into). Remove the 10mm nut and pry out those clips. Then, try to get the fuse holder out.
I'm sorry for the misleading and difference year and model has difference designed.
MAKE SURE YOU DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE 120 amps FUSE.

Sorry I don't mean to jump in your post, just wanted a suggestion from vvti.
Vvti, my ac outlets aren't working. I tried changing the fuse down in the floorboard/footwell but no luck. Any idea?

I removed this 10mm nut and it appears that the yellow fuse holder clips into several plastic clips that are part of the fuse block. The fuse holder doesn't budge much when I try to open the clips. Do you think I should pry out these black clips?
Thanks

Thanks for your help, I was successful. The four black clips had to be openned, then I was able to wiggle the fuse section out of the black fuse box (quite a design). Also four other mini fuses were blown and the car battery was defective. All is well that ends well. Thanks again.
