Default Part# for Oil Filter GS300

Does anybody have the part# for an oil filter for a GS300. OEM# and TRD oil filter#. I think the OEM is something like 08922-2004? is that right for the gs300 3.0 i6? Sorry for the newbe Q but the dealer refused to do my oil change. They said they cant get my car on the lift. Ther loss now ill just do it myself with a TRD filter and some Mobil 1.

The one to use was the 90915-20004. It was great. It is, however, discontinued. Steve (Carson) did get a small batch awhile back so if you want OEM, you can talk to him. They used to be $6-$8 (I can't remember) so it was agreat deal. Now that they are $10, they are the same price as the K&N so I have not jumped on the limited supply from Steve.

I think the new OEM one is 90915-YZZD3.

I found an oil filter TRD# 00602-90915-007 it fits OEM#90915-20004 is this for a v-8? The price is 19.95 plus shipping. Should I get this or a K&N? Whats the best oil filter to get? These or Amsoil?

The 90915-20004 filter is for the V8, but it fits the I6. The reason to get this is that it's longer than the I6 filter so it has more filtering capacity and has a superior filter material inside, so it will pick up more engine junk than the I6 filter. There are numerous threads on CL, Supraforums, and other websites praising this filter. It is by far the best filter for our cars. I also heard the Mobil 1 filters are pretty good too.

You can order the 20004 filter from Carson Toyota for $9, I just bought a few of them a month ago. Stick with this filter and you won't be disappointed I don't know much about the TRD or K&N filters, but I haven't heard that they are as good as the 20004.

You know I'm going to tell you to do a search as there have been some recent discussions on this.

If I remember right, someone mentioned that it is actually the same filter with the TRD brand. If this is the case and you are already willing to pay $20 for it, I'd check with Steve to see if he still has the 20004 for $10.

As for which to get, it is really up to you. The K&N (which is a pretty good filter too) is also $10 and you can get it at your local auto store. The 20004 is also good. It depends how **** you are about the car and the oil changes. If you change every 3k miles, I don't think the filter will make a huge difference. I am not advocating getting a cheap filter but I don't think there is a need for the $20 filter either. Some do, however, and that is their personal choice.

There are 2 OE filters for the i6. The other is made in the USA. I think I have 1 left in the garage. If anyone wants to know I will got down to the COLD COLD garage and look.

Nice find Gamma. I bought too. I only have a couple of the 20004 left. Never hurts to have a few in stock.

Well, I finally opened the package and this thing is freaking huge. Definitely not the same size as OEM. I found a 4-runner thread where this TRD filter apparently fits in the truck but I don't know about our Lex.

I looked at the TRD site and this filter replaces 90914-20004. I saw this on other sites too and some says 90915-20004 so I thought this was a typo. I guess that one digit makes a difference. I've seen this TRD filter posted in other threads here but has anyone actually bought and used this filter?

Not sure what to do with this filter now. Gamma, since you needed to change the oil, did you end up using this filter?

Here's the link to the thread:

Personally I think it's just an oil filter, I bought the K&N filter for my car ( 99 GS 400 ) for $9.00 at the local part's store. Really didn't think their would be so much hype on a oil filter? I thought it was the oil that matter. ( MOBIL 1) How often our you guy's changing your oil every 3K or 5K. I really don't think the car will know if it's even a $3.00 filter they pretty much are all the same aren't they? I think they put those price tags out their so people like us will by them after all were all CAR NUT'S right. But I like the thread and reading what you guy's think I really think the info here is the best. True and real but we all have different options that's why there are people that will pay $20.00 for a filter and people that won't.

I don't know. The guy in with the 4Runner put it on and it threads on just fine. No leaks. I have not been under the car for a little while and cannot remember if there is enough physical room.

Here it is installed on the 4Runner:
