I have a '92 SC 400 and I want to know which oil is the best for this older car........A friend of mine told me to use Valvoline MaxLife, but I wanted to check here first.........Thanks!!! (Also, 5W or 10W......I'm in NC!)

Otherwise, just switch to the typical dino oil, synthetic will burn.
just curious, why would it burn synthetic oil and not burn regular oil?
also, what do you mean by "...has been maintained perfectly..."

well that's why I asked. just want to know what the theory is based on. I think if the car burns oil, it will burn any oil. If it doesn't burn oil, it won't burn synthetic nor regular. Normal oil consumption is what's expected. Any engine burns oil. Even on a brand new Lexus. If you drive for 5,000 miles without checking your oil level hoping that it will be the same as when you filled at oil change, you are in for a surprise.

it cost me $50.
it wouldnt start. the guy said he thougth the engine was seized (i was thinking of a 5.0L V8 swap!!). i looked uder the hood and could see nothing visibly wrong, so i towed it home. i started palying around. wth stuff... i found the starter to be the source of the problem, along with the Distributor.

Just as my questions faded away, so do my doubts of your intelligence.
