When changing brake pads, how difficult should it be to push the pistons back? I hear a lot about sticky calipers. How do you know? (aside from the burning brake pad/glazed rotor/rim too hot to touch syndrome)? I have a set of used 1999 SC3 calipers I'm going to put on my 1993 SC3 and I just want to make sure before I install them.

 

You can use a big channel lock or a C-Clamp to compress the piston. If it move freely, then the caliper/piston is o.k. Make sure you check the sliding pins real good, because the sliding pins will seized up before the piston.
