Default Winter Preparation.

Well, the weather is getting colder (in Canada anyways) as winter draws near.
Another than winter tires, what would you guys recommend doing?

Thanks.

Make sure your coolant/antifreeze is up to snuff and a bag of kitty litter in the trunk.

driving another car... i tried to drive the sc in the snow last winter and it was a bit too dangerous... maybe it's a little better with all seasons or winter tires but i doubt it will make that much of a difference.

NO NO!! not just tires or even all-season/winter tires.....you need blizzaks....they are a must and they will make a huge difference...if there is 2-3 inches of slush/snow you are fine....anymore than that you will have a few problems...but other than that if you are a good driver you will be fine.... just be careful it is a rear wheel drive vehicle.

Blizzaks are the ONLY way to go, I drive my SC400 around Montana all winter through ice, snow, more snow slush and everything else. I was amazed how much of a difference there was between winter tires, the Blizzaks are great not only for traction to get around but also for stopping and being able to avoid the other folks who didn’t bother to by winter tires. Good coolant and a strong battery are key to a trouble free winter.

Cool

There are many different rust proofing products on the market......I use a product called Sym-Tech which is used by many new car dealers but I get it done at a professional detailer's shop so I pay about a 1/3 rd of the price & I get the guy to saturate the entire car, door panels hood, trunk, underbody & the like, then have him put the 'paint sealant' on....I'm due for this in the next several weeks & usually get it done twice in the first year & every second year after that. Keep the salt off the car with frequent car washes....use the car washes that have the undercarriage spray. Salt dosen't hurt the car as long as it's below freezing out by the way.
