hey guys...the air conditioning in my car only blows hot air...what do you think could be the problem. My first guess would be it's low on freon, if you think it is then where would be the cheapest place to recharge it. By the way i have a 92 sc400. Thanks
If its low on R12, then you likely have a leak somewhere... have one can of R12 added to the system along with UV Dye so the leak can be properly diagnosed and fixed. Does the light on the A/C button blink?
WELL... just to check everything.,., you can check your AC for codes.... insert key in ignition.... hold the AC ON button and the recycling air button simaltaneosly then turn key to on position and your AC will flash like 10 times... when its over it will display AC codes... if it says 00 then everything is ok.., if not.,., then there are other problems.. good luck

Why do you think it's a leak. The guy lives in California where he probably uses A/C on day-to-day basis.
Here is how u check at least on my LS400: pop the hood and by the radiator there is a silver canister with a glass eye at the top. Start the car. Turn the A/C on. Look at that eye on the canister. If you see anything going on there like bubbles. it's time to fill it up.

It's not quite that simple. As explained in the factory manual, you first need to prep the system in a certain way before viewing the sight glass and this can involve running the system for several minutes at certain dash AC control settings. THEN you check the sight glass for bubbles.
But if you just rush out and start the engine and immediately check the sight glass you'll very likely see all kinds of foamy bubbles and then will proceed to overfill the system with refrigerant to get rid of the bubbles. Overfilling damages or shorten the life of system components.
