Default Passender Side Window won't work - now with extra hell

I did a search and didn't come up with anything that I feel comfortable with.

I was going to roll up my windows to wash and wax my car today when the passenger side window in my SC400 didn't roll up. I tried to also use the passenger side controls and it still wouldn't roll up. Driver side rolls up fine as do the side mirros continue to work. The locks and door handle still work on the passenger side. I don't hear a buzzing or anything coming from the passenger side window. I tried to manually move the window up and it wouldn't. It moves back and forth but it won't go to the top.

Would this be the window regulator or something else? Depending on what it is, would it be easy to replace myself? Where would this piece be located?

Can you hear the motor runs when you press on the window switch or at some clicking noise? If you do, then I think the window regulator goes bad.
You will have to pull the door panel out and remove the window motor with regulator out. The regulator on the SC is the cable type and it will break or jammed up after a while.

O.K, no sound from the motor. Now you need check the voltage at the passenger motor. If you remove door panel and locate the window motor. You will see the connector for the motor. If you have a digital volt meter, just check voltage at the connector( the one from the main harness) and make sure you got 12 volts( key on) when you press the window switch up or down. Good luck.
Or may be take it to the shop and get a proper diagnostic.

editing this original post....

ok, i found the wires and i am not seeing any power going to it. now, mind you, i'm using a light bulb to test it and am not sure if it's working 100%; but i couldn't find my voltmeter.

i double checked all my circuits and they all look fine. are there any circuits that i should double check that would control only the passenger side window (and maybe the remote, since that quit working on me a few months back also).

thanks

update:
all i've done so far is pull the fuses and check them. now my car ...
interior power door locks aren't working
tilt function of the steering wheel isn't working
time resets to 1:00 everytime i turn on the car (but the radio is retaining it's memory)
the seat memory switches aren't working
the trip mileage monitors reset everytime i turn on the car

edit: ok, everything is working again except for the window.. a fuse blew out... i didn't catch it the 1st time. anyways, the window isn't still working and it's not receiving power.

it started working all by itself after I washed my car!

BUT it has quit working again. this leads me to believe that it might be a connection or something. any thoughts?

how many times was the passenger door opened and closed between not working, working, and not working again?

it's unusual, but wires running into the doors can break, inside the rubber boot between the car and the door. you may have one in the process of breaking. to verify that, though, you'll have to remove the entire wiring harness from inside the door, all the way to its junction in the passenger footwell. then you'll have the joy of disecting it.

take pictures while you're doing it...nothing like undressing a bundle of cable.

i did this once to repair the open-door light in my old '92 camry, couldn't believe it was a busted wire until i saw it with my own eyes, installed a patch, and the light worked again.

btw...it looks as though the colorado lexus club website has been hacked. i swear it wasn't me.

Lightbulb suggestion

hmm...it could also be a worn out window switch. does it feel any looser than your driverside switch? does it still make a click sound when its pressed? so far in my es, i have to replace three switches and one regulator. darn toyota window engineering!

if neither the driver's nor passenger's switch makes the window go, it's not the switch.

thanks for the info... i'm thinking it might be a wire in the door jam... still weird how it only works after the car gets wet. i'm not looking forward to dissecting it all out but i'll let you all know if i find anything.

oh... and the website was hacked... twice now....aaa the joy of admin-ing with phpnuke... sigh.

Check the wire at the door jam, the black rubber boot that runs between the door and the body on the driver side. You may need to have one guy sit on the passenger side and play with the window switch while you're moving/yanking the rubber boot. Sometimes the wire got stretch by opening and closing the door so many times.
