Woogie, I bought the ES used at 64K miles last year. It's got a little over 90K miles right now.
VSsc, funny you brought that up because I took a look at my K&N a few days ago and saw how relatively dirty it was. Couldn't believe it got that dirty after only 15,000 miles So I bought the recharge kit, cleaned and re-oiled the filter. Hopefully problem solved

i would go with stock filter... my throttle body never got dirty and all i've ever used was stock fiter.
It's hard to say with 100% certainty whether the K&N filter in my ES was the reason for the dirty throttle body or not , but for safety's sake, I switched back to the stock filter for now. I hate to think if the K&N filter is not truly designed for all the benefits as described, but I don't really know yet..

the K&N does take in more air for sure... but it also sucks in more dirt... and when they get clumped with oil.... oil and dirt fly into the throttle body and also dirties the MAF. the HKS foam type actually looks good to use.... almost impossible for dirt to get in... (the one that looks like a mushroom)
