Dear Friends,
When I start my Lexus, I turn the key very slowly and wait a second or two as it "clicks" twice and then I engage it fully to start the engine. My question is if this is a good practice- allowing the electronics to "warm" up to the engine starting or am I doing more harm then turning the key immediately starting the engine?
I don't think it has any significant effect one way or another. Modern day electronics don't need to warm up. The key movement sequence does turn on the fuel pump (to insure system is pressurized) just before it moves to engine start position - but there is no need to perform this sequence any slower than just normally turning it all the way to start.
