Exclamation WTB: Stock catalytic converter and O2 sensors!

Grrrrrrrr, for the first time I failed the emissions test on my 94' GS300, and the thing that sucks is since last time I passed (which I had no problems with) I have only done cosmetic mods and nothing engine wise. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas I would love the help! Thanks guys!

HC passed 0.4672 grams/mile limit 0.8
CO passed 1.0754 grams/mile limit 15.0

NOx FAILED!!!!! 3.5526 grams/mile 2.0

NOx Type of operation exceeding standards:
Accel 68%
L crse 10%
H crse 17%
Decel 3%
Idle 0%

Comparison to reference passing car:
This car: 3.55g/mi
Ref. car: 1.39 g/mi
(This car/Ref car) 155.8% greater

Location of major exceedences:
Ins Oper Mode Seconds Contrib to Exced Ave Diff from Ref Passing Car
1 ALH-- 147-205 HC 99% CO 0% NOx 49% HC 120% CO 19% NOx 222% Rel A/F Lean1%
2 --HD-- 210-221 HC 0% CO 0% NOx 11% HC 172% CO 40% NOx 271% Rel A/F Lean1%
3 AL--- 40-59 HC 0% CO 0% NOx 10% HC 72% CO 13% NOx 282% Rel A/F Lean2%
4 A---- 8-16 HC 0% CO 0% NOx 6% HC 61% CO 11% NOx 256% Rel A/F Lean3%

Supplental diagnostic information:
Lean air/fuel ratio, EGR system malfunstion (if equiped), engine coolant system performance, and/or catalytic converter failure are potential causes for the NOx failure.

Hmmmm, how much of a pain is that to replace? Can I do it myself easily? Any idea on how much one costs approx?

There is a good product to buy in the States at http://www.blueskycleanair.com

I have used this product not for emissions reasons, but to get a lot of the crud out from the bad Mexican gas.

I've had a couple cars fail in the Nox section.
It is the EGR system, check/replace the valve and inspect/clean the EGR pipe.

The valve may be accessible but the pipe is probably back against the firewall. When Toyota did it for my car: EGR valve and clean, it was like $350.

$350 ouch! Well since I didnt fail that bad, is there anyway to BS my way through it just as a temp. fix? Any cleaner or product you can put into the car to maybe at least slightly clean up the problem?

I dunno if there is a way around the EGR. You can inspect thje valve and your shop manual will detail the test procedure to check for function. Cost may vary so I'd call to get a ball park figure.

Good deal, ok I had my car checked out and the EGR valve is good to go, they said all I really need is a new cat so I am happy, and he said I might want to go ahead and replace the O2 sensors. I am very strapped for cash right now since I am about to finish school and I have to start paying off loans once I am done, so I am trying to save some money here. Anyone have any opinions on replacing both the cat and the O2 with used ones, cause Lexus wants an arm and a leg for them. I know it isn't ideal, but it would be a hell of a lot cheaper and a temp. fix just for the the time being. Anyone have either one for sale they want to sell that fits a gen1 GS300? Thanks!

Glad you got it fixed. Just wait until one of the o2 sensors fail. The check engine light will come on when it happens. There's really no telling how long those things will last. Usually if you're runnning rich or lean they go out sooner. That's what I've read on here anyway.

Also heard that the aftermarket ones don't last as long.

There's also this product called autoRX and it allegedly cleans off deposits that can cause o2 sensors to fail. I'm running a treatment of it right now and I'll post up how it goes probably in a month or so after I go another 500 miles of the treatment.

A new cat from a muffler shop with install is about $125. But this will be a cut and weld deal unless the guy opts to weld flanges so you can bolt it up. In that case, you could measure the dimensions and call the salvage yards. Of course, there is no way of knowing if the salvaged cat will still function properly.

Well a new cat from Lexus for a gen1 GS300 is $1,200!!!!! Anyonme know where I can get one cheaper, I caleld evry muffler shop around Milwaukee and no one has a bolt on one. Salvage yards told me it is illegal to sell a used cat off of their cars, and I called several yards, damn EPA probably lol!

Here I found this website that has rebuilt ones...

They say this is the front one, which I dont see on my car anywhere so I am confused...
http://www.kansascityconverters.com...ems/bn799ab.htm

And this is the rear one which looks like mine, but now I need to measure it, ours doesnt have an oxygen sensor on it does it, i didnt see one???? Does anyone know the length off hand?
http://www.kansascityconverters.com...items/bn802.htm

So which is the front cat and where is the front one on our cars because at least on my car I only see what they call the rear one right after the exhaust manifold in the front of the car and not the front one they show????? Do I not have a front cat??? Does either have an O2 sensor???? I am so confused now, sorry I sound like a dumbass...
