Default Extremely slow acceleration from stop- HELP!

I have a 2003 GS300 that I bought 2 weeks ago. One problem that I seem to be having with the car is that the car accelerates EXTREMELY slow from stop. When I stop at a red light, it takes the car forever to accelerate. Is this a common issue with a GS300, or should I get my car checked out by a mechanic? Also, is there something I can put in from Autozone or something to help (assuming it is not a mechanical issue). Thanks.

Just don't put any Engine Restorer in there (from another thread) Ok, congrats on your purchase. How many miles on the car so we can guage what should be done to remedy your problem.

Thank you for the well wishes. I really love the car. The car has 33,000 miles on it.

Just throwing some things out there:

Parking brake on? Too obvious but part of the shopping list
Any lights on the dash?
Does the rpm rev really high on accelerating while still going verrrry slow?

How slow is really slow?

You may want to try unplugging the battery for about 10 minutes to reset the computer.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 minutes, then reconnect it. This will reset your cars ecu to adjust to your driving style. How are the fluids? what condition are they in?

Check the drag ... by coasting on a flat open road. That would remove 50% of possible causes.

I think I will unplug the battery cables and see what happens. I would take it to the dealership, but the closest one is about 100 miles for me and I do not want to drive out that far for something that might not even be a problem.
