CPO and first oil change advice
Hi All. Definitely not trying to start an oil thread, but wanted some thoughts on when to get my first oil change done, since the CPO delivery was at an odd mileage relative to service schedule.
-oil changed and tires rotated at 18k
-car delivered to me at 18k.
I'm obviously not going to change at 20k with it done at 18k, but should i pay to have it done once before my 30k service, or go the full 12k since its synthetic oil? I'm thinking maybe 25k, and then get back on the Lexus schedule at the 30k oil change from then on. Do you feel the extra oil change will be a waste of $$? (Full disclosure... My closest dealer is 90 mins away, and I'm not doing a DIY job)... Thanks in advance

Manual says 10k interval. Lexus dealer that CPO'd the car used Mobil synthetic. Would like to get back on schedule and not stay a few thousand miles off in order to keep the 10k interval. Just unsure if I want to go 12k on the first interval of ownership to get back on an even 10k oil interval. Trying to decide if a change at both 25k and then 30k is wise. Will then likely stick with the maintenance guide after that point.

Try going to a local Toyota dealer if there is one closer to you and get a oil change there.
Sometimes there is a service /oil change coupon in there website to save some gas money

I may do that. Just unsure of the following:
1.) should I roll the dice with a Toyota tech. I know it's a mixed bad among techs everywhere... But I like my odds better at Lexus.
2.) am I good to go 12k on the same oil from the Lexus dealer that did the cpo oil change. I do a short trip each morning to work (no time to fully warm up), but easy highway driving other than that.... Assuming I am not, and want to do a change at 25k (7k drain interval), and then at 30k (5k interval) to get back on factory schedule, am I wasting time and $ by passing my local Toyota dealer to go to Lexus 90 mins away...

For something as simple-stupid as an oil change, I'd definitely forego 3 hours of travel and see the Toyota shop. It also suggests you may want to find a good Toyota / Lexus indy mechanic once the CPO warranty goes away.
I'd also recommend the TRD filter as it has better filter media and higher performance o-rings.

My 2010 LX has a 5K miles oil change interval. Since yours has the same engine, not sure why they would change it all of a sudden to 10K. Since you have 18K now, I would change the oil at 25K and every 5K after that. If you plan on holding the car for long term you would definitely want to stick to changing the oild every 5K miles. (My 2010 LX has 130K miles and runs like brand new! But I change the oil every 5K miles religeously)

If you are running "old school" oil, 5K is what is required.

I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axle over a a 1,000 miles one way or the other. There will be more of a variable over how you drive than what will occur or not 1,000 miles one way or the other. Are you driving a lot in town with lots of stops and starts? Then more wear, do it a little earlier if you want to get on "schedule." More highway driving? Then do it a little later. Most important thing is to do it regularly IMHO. My 2011 has 95,000+ and still runs great with 5,000 mile interval and old style oil.
