Muffler replacement
The muffler on my 2010 with 170k has started rattling inside, I tried to go directly to the dealership but they want so much $$$$ for the new muffler. They don't actually sell just the muffler, you have to buy everything from the motor back.
Any recommendations for aftermarket?

The part number for the muffler is 1742038100. Quick search online shows it being ~$500 but with shipping brings it up to $750
You can get it from www.partsouq.com for $600 shipped.
You can also call some Toyota dealerships and see if they can get it. As it is the same muffler as the Land Cruiser.

Midas.
I went Midas for my BMW 30 years ago. Aftermarket, but looks and functions just like stock OEM, except welded rather than clamped. And over the past 30 years they have repaired and replaced it for free without questioning why I have kept the car so long. They offer lifetime replacement and it is one of the few guarantees like that still around.

a good local muffler shop will weld in a new muffler without disrupting the rest of the system, cat converters, and sensors.
so it will be 20% of the stealership price
what state do you live in?
you DO need to fix it, because if that internal metal plugs up the exhaust, you will have horrible gas mileage, and may end up damaging the motor
