i have an LX. tried some GXs when i was shopping for it, and they are tiny in comparison.
we wanted a roadtripping vehicle, and i did not want to be bumping elbows with a passenger the entire way. the LX is much wider.

that said, you are paying for it with crappy fuel mileage. LX will get you 14 or 15 mpg, the GX is apparently 19 on the highway.
the 2023 models, see what they did for an engine. they might have options with a more roadtrip friendly gas mileage.

ALSO, consider, toyota is talking about brringing a Prada model land cruiser to the united states. i would def check that out!

the land cruiser is a little more set up for offroading, as the LX is a "luxury" SUV, that almost nobody takes offroad (even though it is offroad capable).

Default Why not both?

Borrow all of the $ you can get your hands on and buy the used LX with a V8 and a 2023 GX. Yes I'm serious.

I own a 2020 Land Cruiser Heritage V8, 2020 TRD Pro Tundra V8, 2014 FJ Cruiser TTUE......

And I have a deposit on a GX460 Blackline that is on a ship. I should take delivery in 2 weeks.

These are the best vehicles ever made by Toyota.

I have owned both GX and LX. I used them mainly to tow my horse trailer, haul horse farm type cargo like hay and bags feed and lumber, short trips around town, and off road on gravel, dirt, and mud, but not rock crawling type off-road. If you can afford the LX, it is a much better vehicle. That is my opinion based on how I use an SUV.

You can fit 10 foot long lumber into an LX, slipping it between the front seats, and and still close the liftgate. No way with the GX.

I love the latest and greatest, but really don't want a first year model, epically at a markup in a high demand scenario. I'm a buyer, just not right a way (though I reserve the right to change my mind). With that, 550 looks awesome, and I'm loving my new GX !

one thing about the GX, there are a TON of soccer moms driving them on lease here in the northeast USA. means a ton of them come off lease, having never seen anything more "off road" than a speed bump at the supermarket parking lot!

get one that looks good, and slap on some aftermarket items, and you have a serious off roader with very little money spent.
