Question 2016 LX - Steering wheel vibration issue?

Hey all, I just bought a '16 LX570 and have been reading up a few threads on this. It seems the steering wheel at 40+ MPH has a vibration or feeling of all the road imperfections with my 21" wheels. I've gotten my wheels re-balanced recently and it seems better, but still there (no issues w/ the wheels). The alignment was done at a Lexus dealer within the last 5,000 miles and still there. Am I missing something or is it just because it's built on a truck frame that it's like this?

I drove my wife's '18 Acura MDX the other day and it's a day/night difference in enjoyment of driving for the driver. My steering wheel seems to shake my hand slightly when going highway speeds.

noticed the same on my wife's 2017 with 80k miles. Not sure either. Too bad this forum isn't more helpful!

If your on Dunlop tires it's the tires. Try using sport mode @ highway speeds. Seems counter intuitive to firm up the suspension on the highway, but everything feels much better/ stable in sport mode.

I have Toyo tires. I tried sport+ mode last night and it seemed to take some shake out of the wheel. Any idea what component is causing this? It almost feels like the drive shaft is out of balance.

Start with a wheel balance front and rear. All things considered, you'll have a smoother ride on 18" wheels.

That's as helpful as I can be.

Alignment will not produce vibration, it affects whether the vehicle is going straight / not. Balance of wheels will result in vibration, but do look for a dealer / tire shop to do a 'Road Force Balance', that'll tell u if the tires on the wheel are circled and not having 'bumps / flat spots etc'(not in a good circle). If a tire is out of round, the mechanic can still get the tire balanced, but the 'bump' / 'flat spot' will still cause vibration on high speed despite the tire is balanced. Next check suspension / bushings / joints / axles / wheel bearings. Drive shaft imperfections will also result in high speed vibration but quite rare at this age / mileage.

Exact reason why I sold my 2013 LX570. Suddenly appeared out of nowhere and no one could ever figure it out. Lexus dealer pretty much threw their hands up and said it’s “normal” which was laughable for the amount of vibration in the steering wheel happening at highway speeds. Newer Michelin Defender tires went through multiple alignments, road force balances, replacing of a bunch of suspension parts I finally gave up.
