Default arising issue: steering wheel shaking

hi y'all:
so today i took the gx470 on the highway and once is approached 70mph i noticed the steering wheel shaking... never before have i noticed this but today it happened i guess sporadically... just the steering wheel and nothing else... is this just the alignment? bad road? excessive speed? funky... lmk

Maybe you lost a weight, hit a pothole? Bubble in tire?

most shaking in the steering wheel is from mis-balanced tires. If you can go to a place that uses a road force balancer, that'll be your best bet.

yea from what i read the force balancer is the way to go first, i wonder if firestone has them:
other causes from searching: steering wheel column spring worn out, bearings, alignment, etc.

this only started after i had my spoiler on, but that can't be the cause... i will have to try the force balancer first then, thanx

Steering issues are of many causes. Most prominent on GX are the Front differential Support and Dynamic dampers are mfr defect. Normally they trigger the vibration on the steering , which effects the sliding yoke on the steering. Most of the GX 03/04 Models had this symptom and Lexus issued a TSB to sort this issue.. Changing the above parts have removed this issue. I had this myself on my GX and as it was out of the 50,000 Comprehensive warranty. Now if you model within this year, you may want to look at the above.

Likely a tire with a flat spot or a bent wheel.

Rotate the tires from front to rear. If it improves then definitely tires/wheels problem.

If it does not improve then problem is in the car, could be struts or worn ball joint or bent axle..
