Folks from what I understand it is very difficult to hear, if at all, pinging/knocking on less octane fuels because computers are constantly adjusting. Its not like the ole days when you put a load on the car it would and you could hear it. The higher octane will give better mileage as biff44 stated. I too have experienced the same, better mileage.
For the few xtra cents, for me, its a no brainer, higher octane, especially when its stated on the gas cap.

Knock sensors will prevent knocking before the knock begins. The hp difference is 3 hp. Redline's are the same for LX, LC, and Tundra engines. LX and Cruiser engines are made entirely in Japan with 100% Japanese parts; the trucks are made on the same dedicated assembly lines. Tundra and tundra engines may be made in both Japan and the US.
No records here or anywhere else of a blown engine with 87 octane.
I use non-ethanol whenever possible as ethanol tends to rot/dissolve rubber over time. Weasel **** is not legal for engine fuel in Idaho...when was it made legal in Mass?
knock sensor cant prevent knocking before it begins because it needs knocking to occur in order to detect it! but once it does occur, the ecu will pull timing immediately.
91 or 93/94 will allow more timing. You will probably see 10-15hp increase. Now, with a dedicated high octane tune, it would likely be 20+hp more than 87 / stock tune. If you go for the magnusson (or other) forced induction, you will want to run the highest octane available.
