Default Trailer hook up wiring

Hi friends!

I own a 2017 LX, and recently planning to get on road trip with RV trailer. It doesn't look like trailer connecter is installed on my LX. And can't find any installation instructions on user manual ?

Any hints ?

The 7 pin connector is under the LX to the right of the hitch receiver. There is a cap over it.
Depending on the trailer, you may need a brake controller. That harness should be loose in the glove box or in the tailgate storage. It has a connector on one side and bare wires on the other. You connect that to the brake controller and the harness tucked way up behind the dash on the far left side.

This is on a 2009 so it may be different on yours but I think it would be close.

The brake controller normally comes with a connector that mates with the controller on one end. On the other end, you space the wires to the connector comes with the truck...controller connectors may be different from one controller to another. Lots of info here... etrailer.com wiring info

You may also need an extension on the trailer cable as the LX 7-pin socket is way above the bumper to protect the connector off-road.

The wiring between truck and trailer connectors is normally stored by the factory in the zip-down cavity in the left side 3rd row seat...you pull down a zipper to get it out. Truck wiring is sometimes done by a dealer, I diy'd mine...no big deal.

Thanks all!

with regard to break controller , I'm thinking about Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller 51180, so I don't need to handle the wiring.

is there downside of this other than the price?

Current state of the art is
here...Tekonsha P3 with Toyota wiring harness. here...Tekonsha P3 with Toyota wiring harness.

It's turn-key and easy to connect and it's definitely better than Curt...We've had both on a horse trailer.

I look at pricing as about the last thing on trailer brake controllers.

1. Finer tuning for brake strength.

2. Hard-wired, that takes about 30 minutes.

So that is good to know about the brake strength, is the Curt jerky? I am just trying to figure out a place to put it other than the center console which my wife isn't excited about.

Ours is mounted under the right corner of the dash. I used industrial strength Velcro. You could also think about mounting it to the driver's side of the console, though seat adjustment between drivers might take some practice. Velcro scores here again.

I'm not sure I'd call the Curt "jerky", it does turn out that the P3 is smoother. As sometimes we pull a horse trailer, my task is to give the animals as smooth as ride as I can.
