Toyota's not going to update, logically, due to the scarcity of 200 series trucks in the North American market...different from Camry's in that regard, by an order of magnitude at the least.

The petition won't have any impact if no one signs it. Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Green Party Members, Tea Party Members, and Independents are all invited to sign! I'd have thought this, of all things, would be a bi-partisan issue.

This is by far the stupidest thread I've ever read. Petitions are for public causes. Demanding from the manufacturer that the underprivileged Lexus LX570 owners get CarPlay doesn't quite qualify as a public cause.
The only signature Lexus cares about is how many signatures were on the dotted line for new LX purchases. A few thousand more each month might warrant them adding CarPlay.

 

The model is a dinosaur and will not be updated. Best bet is an all new LX, if it ever comes. Lexus is slow to react to consumer trends. Very surprising, as Lexus used to be innovative and lead in technology, especially higher end models. Weird the direction they have taken and have become complacent.

 

That's a big stretch, given they import ~ 4000 per YEAR to the North American Market. Add Land Cruisers to the mix for another 3000 or so per year. Drops in the bucket.

 

I appreciate all of the comments. I have learned something. I did not know that so many "Negative Nancys" drove Lexus vehicles. The sentiment is "Well, Lexus won't do it any way, so let's not try." It is amazing this attitude has gotten the commenters to this point this far in life.
I've tried more "stupid" things than this when others have to told me no and have succeeded. This may not work, but it won't be because I did not try. Regardless of how you feel about the issue, signing a petition never hurt anyone and doesn't cost but a few seconds of your time.

Nonetheless, I am going to keep it positive and stay classy.

Let me see if I can take politics out of this thread and get it back on track - kind-of.

Aside from the viability of any "petition", I see no way that there can be a software update to enable CarPlay on the LX. If anything, it will take a hardware/software solution and that won't be cheap. There are a couple of aftermarket solution of varying quality.

I'd suspect that any factory solution would cost $1000+ assuming, of course, that this solution would also work on other vehicles (GX/LC) in order to be viable.

 

There is a rumor that we will see new LX next summer with release date for 2021. There is no point of updating LX with anything.
