Wife always wanted red calipers. I decided to surprise her. Haven't posted in some time, but thought I would share my weekend project. New 3M metallic caliper wrap was a project I just wanted to try. Always wanted red for my LX570. It turned out great. how it sticks. Had a pro tell me he has had comebacks. I was concerned about heat dissipation but I only covered the front and visible portion. Kind of frustrating material. LX calipers are very detailed and curvy which make the process quite tiresome. Took me about 6 hours +. I think I could do one now in 4 or so.
simple process: remove wheel, clean caliper, cut material, heat slightly, work in the wrap. heat again to set the glue, trim with a sharp blade. I used multiple pieces to ensure coverage.
Looks great, I like the red on white. Good to know about the 3M Caliper wrap. I've used the Duplicolor Caliper Paint on other cars I've owned, when I get around to replacing the brakes on the LX I will touch them up with the silver Duplicolor. It holds up surprisingly well, lasted for years on my Jeep and is very quick, clean well with brake cleaner, a few coats of paint and done.
