Default 2020 Heritage Edition Land Cruiser

Yeah, I realize it's not an LX. But it sounds like no major changes for the 2020 models...

2020 Heritage Edition from Toyota's press room.

And from mud..."Usually when I hear something like "Heritage Edition" I run away. It smacks of marketing in the place of improvements/innovation. Looks like that is the case. Squeeze the last bits out of the current model with what they think is clever marketing. There have been similar special runs on the 100 series...only changes are limited production, a single paint color, and no difference in resale value between regular and special editions in a given model year.

"At the same time, this sort of thing usually precedes the release of a new model. So maybe there is hope for 2021. I just hope they don't screw it up (my opinion) like LR did with the Discovery and make it more about supposedly clever gimmicks that don't hold up over time or faddish, in your face luxury that is for people who buy a car to get attention from others rather than as a tool to get to amazing places, and back, in comfort. Time will tell."

No disagreements here.

It is just putting lipstick on a pig. Love the LC and LX, but time for a redesign. At least put Apple CarPlay in the damn thing. This model is very long in the tooth. Can’t wait to see if/ when they finally redesign this beast.

I read the other forum comments, some are against and a couple think it’s ok.

Toyota has done this a few times with 100 series trucks...current prices for a used "special" edition seem no different than regular trucks...I would not buy one as a longer term investment v. a non-special version. Changes are primarily cosmetic.

Porsche is famous for doing special edition models at the end of a life cycle to use up existing slow moving inventory.

Yes, it probably means no changes for 2020 model. In 2021 we will probably get V6 biturbo crosover with 24" wheels :-)

BTW, the wheels on the Heritage edition do not look bad. If they would be available on ebay for about $500, I could put them on my LX :-)
