Default Key Left Inside Vehicle

Guys, my 2017 LX refuses to lock because it says "Key Left Inside Vehicle". Worse yet, it'll start without a key because it thinks a key is nearby. Both of these situations exist even when my 2 keys are nowhere near the truck. It's in my garage now so there's no risk of theft. I'll call the dealer in the morning but am curious to know if anyone has seen this before. It'd be nice if I could reset something to fix this versus going to the dealer.

This is a complete swag, but you might try disconnecting one of the battery cables for 30 minutes or so.

It is possible that your users manual package is inside the vehicle with the "card key".

I was thinking the same thing but was hoping to avoid having to reset all my wife's radio stations, etc. Things got a little weirder after my original post. About an hour afterwards, the truck would lock and unlock normally but this morning the rear hatch would not open- not manually and not electronically by key fob or by dashboard button. About an hour after that, it was operating normally. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for your reply.

I wish. I thought of that too. I confirmed that the card key is in a drawer in my office where I put it on delivery day. Per my above post the issue got a little weirder but as of now has resolved itself. Thanks for your reply.

I've had that tailgate problem a couple of times in the last year on my MY '15. First time it happened I thought I was in for trouble, but so far it always fixes itself.

That's good to hear. A one-time issue is no big deal. I just don't want my wife dealing with gremlins too frequently. Thanks for your reply.
