What is the front windshield wiper de-icer? how is it activated and how does it work?

I believe you hit Climate and the windshield icon with yellow colored wiper appears. I don't know for sure but I did activate that thinking it was heated windshield fluid.

I believe there are heating elements (much like the rear window defroster) embedded in the lower area of the windshield where the wipers rest. This area would then heat up, de-icing the wipers.

That is correct, had the opportunity to try it out this weekend.
It works O.K. Still had to scrape by hand a couple of times because of the heavy snow
that was coming down.

Automatically shuts off after a while, so I had to keep turning it on.
It's probably best to also have the front defroster going at the same time.
