I don't think the LX570 comes with synthetic from the factory. Likely the dealer decided to just use synthetic.

I've been picking up Mobil 1 at Costco for about $25 per case. My local Dealer here in Rockville MD use it on my request instead. My oil changes (+) for my ES300 have been around $100 but it's usually the labor that's about 80% of the cost.

I think the dealer is making a nice chunk of change on that service, simply because they feel Lexus owners, especially on their higher priced models, can afford it. Plus you're paying for your loaner car (even though it's 'free') etc...

I would find a good dependable local shop to take care of easy maintenance items.

I don't own an LX570, but I do the same for all the cars within my family, GX, former LX, IS350, etc.

Or take it to a Toyota dealer, they often have quick lube service anywhere from $30-$40. Same parts

There is no doubt the dealer is in this to make money. Mine is sending me $50 off cards if you come in the next week and 10% off for when ever.

Service department is a money making arm of your local Lexus dealer. Over the last 3-4 years I have watched sevice prices go way up.

What is sad, when you trade in you vehicle, you get BlueBook price no matter if you have never had it serviced or never even waxed it one time. This policy makes me wonder about putting so much money into service when I know I will only own the unit for a few years.

Service is a hidden cost of owning a Lexus, imo. A few years ago Lexus USA bragged to securities analysts that Lexus dealerships are the most profitable in the industry. And it is because of service.

I haven't serviced my MB yet because scheduled services are only every 13k miles instead of 5k with Lexus.

BTW anyone who wants can buy synthetic or regular oil at Costco and then have Jiffy Lube do the oil change. Keep the receipt and your Lexus warranty is still valid.

Well, my G500 oil change is about the same. I don't know the exact figures since my '04 G500 was the last year that MB did free oil changes during the warranty period. Anyway, from my understanding, it is about $110-120. My G500 came from factory with Mobil 1 synthetic.

My LX570 goes in for it's 15K next week and I am betting it will not be $130!

More like $300-$400!

I just called to make the appointment and it is $299! Not so bad

I kinda like to get out of the Lexus rental as quick as I can as it makes me feel "unprotected"! I will take it in at 8am and if as in the past, it will be washed and ready to pick up at about 1pm.

If u can't do it it will cost u a few bucks.
DIY for around $50 with synthetic oil.
Local Toyota dealer here will do oil(non-synthetic) & filter for $25.
So around $100 may be slightly high but with synthetic oil not real bad. Did they rotate tires too?
