I suspect not as often as Lexus says it should be done. With the proper filtration I am betting that good synthetic oil could go well over 10K after the first few oil changes
Totally kidding. Lexus takes good care of me at out local dealer.
The Corvette goes in every 500 miles or so. Carbs get synched, little tinkering too so thats not a cheap oil change/work.

BTW anyone who wants can buy synthetic or regular oil at Costco and then have Jiffy Lube do the oil change. Keep the receipt and your Lexus warranty is still valid.
but you run the risk and hassle that some schmoe at jiffy lube will strip the threads on the filter or round off the drain bolt of a vehicle they rarely service. Not worth it IMO. The IS350 oil changes at the dealer with carwash is $49 or so with just the bare lube and filter change services with conventional oil. It would cost $30+ at a Jiffy Lube. Worth the extra $20 for me.
I am not sure why they put synthetic in it as its not required, however you can run it easily to 10k miles in a normally aspirated engine so OP paid for 2 oil changes up front.

120... that's about right, that's how much they told me when I owned my RX(now is my dad's car).. I end up go to Costco picked up the Mobile 1 synthetic oil, and go to Toyota dealership to buyer a filter(toyota price $5.50, Lexus price $7.75) and a Gasket (toyota price $0.97, Lexus price $3). And do it myself. and the IS that I and driving now, the dealership include the oil change for it, so I go in there to get oil change every 5K, but I refuse to let them do any other maintenance that they recommend.
Service department is a money making arm of your local Lexus dealer. Over the last 3-4 years I have watched sevice prices go way up.
What is sad, when you trade in you vehicle, you get BlueBook price no matter if you have never had it serviced or never even waxed it one time. This policy makes me wonder about putting so much money into service when I know I will only own the unit for a few years.
We've owned Lexus since the inception (4 LX, 1 RX, 1 LX, 1 IS) and have witnessed the same skyrocketing of service costs. It's unfortunate and I've made it very clear to the manager and owner of our favorite dealer that I will not be returning to the dealership for any work outside of warranty until they pull back on their "extra charges" and out of this world hourly rates.
As of now we're having all our service on our 2006 LX470 done at a local Toyota dealer. The dealership is brand new, still gives us loaner cars and service is generally 1/3 the cost of using the Lexus dealer.
Well I do agree as I used to think that Lexus service was quite reasonable, but about two years ago it seems to increase a good bit. I likley will still use them, they got one of the best waiting rooms I have seen with Panera pastery and coffee so good I went out and bought the Kurig coffee maker for at home!
I just called Longo for oil change service, and they quoted me $68???? WTF. Last oil change for my moms car, it was under $50.
There is a lot more work in changing the oil and oil filter in your LX 570. The rock gaurd has to be removed just to get the filter. The difference is the labor involved, The cost of the filter and oil may also be more unless you are specifing the same oil be used for both cars.
i meant for the RX330, it was $50, then price hiked to $68 on the next oil change. nothing different from previous, they just said their price went up.....
You can buy a service plan, (a prepay discount of service) I bought our LX 570 in May 09 and added the plan for $2100 which covers all scheduled mainance (which is recommended EVERY 5,000 miles, yes, really) up to 70,000 miles or 5 years which every is 1st (on top off the factory warrenty) Great deal saver !!
