I would probably opt for the Navigator for more of a quieter ride. The GLS is also a consideration and the wife will probably prefer it over the Navigator.

I didn’t know that about the Sienna. I would use it for short trips too so that would be frustrating.

you are right about the Telluride. It’s a great vehicle. Enjoyed driving it. I felt a little cramped in the back but I wouldn’t be sitting back there haha. I do prefer a higher ride height though (LX, Range Rover, truck based SUVs etc) but that is in no way a dealbreaker, hence the van consideration.
One of my best friend had a GLS. Their air suspension in the rear went out then the AC went out. Both repaired out of pocket. Then they moved on to the Escalade. With less than 70k miles the AC went out -$2500. The transmission went out 2x- $5,500 a pop. Repaired out of pocket. They traded the Escalade for a LX. No issues with the LX so far with 65k miles.

TX is longer than LX and has much more legroom for the 3rd row with 20 cubic feet of space behind the 3rd row. It's big without being gargantuan...
Current LX 570 owner and we are waiting on allocation on a TX in the trim and options we prefer. Honestly I prefer the TX 550 due to its NA V6 engine and it’s a PHEV for long term reliability but it lacks a sunroof and space tire. So we are taking a look at the 500h. But I would be completely fine keeping the 570. It has been a great vehicle. Not the most spacious but very well built. We have used all 8 seats on multiple occasions when we have visitors in town. We put the kids (3 of them all under 10) in the 3rd row. 2 adults in the 2nd row on the ends, a car seat in the middle, with 2 adults up front. I was able to put a bob stroller behind the 3rd row and few shopping bags on top of it.

I test drove the Grand Highlander and it’s true a 6ft person fits comfortably, imo, even in the 3rd row. When you lower the 3rd row it has a TON of cargo space. Even with the 3rd in place you can fit several suitcases behind the 3rd row. The 2nd row slide forward and backward plus also recline. The 3rd row reclines. TX will have the same dimension. TX has definitely more space than the LX 570 but I have my reservations on its 4 cylinder turbo power plant but hybrid part helps ease that.

Looked at the sequoia today. The cargo space is a big fail. You have to get creative to fit things if you have a lot of stuff. The Suburban has tons more cargo space than the Sequoia. I personally wouldn’t purchase a Suburban. The quality isn’t on par with Lexus or Toyota. It each its own

Ah, ok. I guess I don't have the same storage needs. I am with you, I woud not buy a Suburban (or a Navigator or even a Tahoe). I have driven them all for work and Toyota/Lexus beats them all. We had a 2019 Tundra Limited and sold it to get a 2019 LX 570. We have a 2019 LC. Rock solid but don't have the storage you need, it seems.

I was considering the previous gen Tundra as well but I know just refinement, comfort, and road noise are obviously going to be better in the LX

I’ll definitely have to check out the TX. I’m sure my wife will really like it.

Thanks for the breakdown of the LX. Right now it’s 1 car seat and 4 adults so an LX would be fine. The RX is already way too tight for that. Soon it’ll be 2 car seats though and 4 adults.

What would be the difference 2018 and 2020 LX? I think got LED reverse light that might be about it.

Also looked at Sienna but they have issue with condensation getting into the oil for short trips (we would need short trips for school pickups). This is not a problem on most cars. Supposively, the water makes it into the oil pan turns into milkshake, so much you will see the oil level raise in dip stick
2018 is when they got the refresh with the nicer LED lights and new paint colors. The 2020 adds the option for that TRD body kit which I still want. In addition, 2018+ still can use Enform services in the US as they have 4G modems. I'm really upset I wasn't more patient and waited to find a 2018+ model, I have a 2017 and the Enform loss sucks, I actually used the stupid app. I also paid $200 for a knockoff LED license plate light assembly, but sadly it's yellowing after a year despite the car mostly living in a garage.

Anyway.
