Default Replacing ML W/NAV stereo.. it can be done

So I picked up my 04 LX470 with nav (ugh!) a few weeks ago. I hated the stereo and all the speakers were blown. I changed some speakers and it still was poop.
I saw that many Lexus and Toyota's share the same harness and most of them need the 68 ohm .5 watt resistor. Heck, METRA has it in the instructions! http://www.metraonline.com/files/products/INST99-8159S_web.pdf

jerryb posted as well as Pucker5 about using the 68 ohm resistor in LC, on the mud forum. Well, I know I am special cause I got fancy trim, but the wiring harness HAS to be the same right? Yes... Yes it is. Thanks to you 2 folks for making it simple on me!

The same PLUG C pin 9 and 10 (blue and pink wires) are the TX + and TX - to multi screen. So I started my stereo change today. With the factory AMP, Tape Deck, CD changer, and DVD/NAV player removed, with the 68 ohm resistor installed, my HVAC and INFO screen were working. I am going to have a 5ch amp running everything so that is why the ML amp went good bye! The back up module is still installed so I can use the back up cam.

The trim around the old tape deck will be need to be modded and reused, but that is for another time... I will keep updating this thread as things go together and get finished. I just wanted to share some progress so far.

I can't get ant to go all the way up upon power on, only goes bout 4 inches. But goes down on pwr off..still working that.

What are you going to do for trim around your new radio?

If you have a 3D printer its not really too much of an issue. If you dont, do you know someone with a 3D printer?
I have an Celsior (LS400) and just printed a fascia (trim) with mounts and now my new 2DIN GPS/Android/BT/WIFI/Etc Stereo looks like it was factory equipped (well, almost).
Just be aware it usually takes a few prints to get it right. Its very hard to get measurements right the first time, and as 3D printing is slow, each try takes time.
I got mine right on the second prototype. So 3rd print was then in high quality (0.06mm per layer).

I know its slightly off topic but many people with 3D printers forget about them when it comes to a real use scenario, and a lot of people now know someone with a 3D printer.
And most 3D printer owners are only too willing to show off what they can do.
I also replaced some broken a/c vents with printed ones. You have to look really hard to see they are not original.
Hope this idea helps.
