Honestly, I would buy a leftover LS460 before I bought a GS-F if the LS500 was out of reach on pricing. The GS-F is just not my kind of car.
I'm going back and forth, I might get the GSF and a comfortable 2nd car for long rides and relaxing, was looking at 07 LS460, 04 S500 4matic, or even a navigator, I definitely want the 2nd vehicle to be awd so I can park up the F when it snows.
Not apples to apples but I have a '13 Acura TL SH-AWD and a '13 LS. My experience is the same as others here in that my family has fallen in love with the LS, it is just so comfortable. As a driver's car, the LS really does completely isolate you (and passengers) from just about everything. It is an incredible family highway car, best we've ever had. The LS does fine cruising the back roads, but it doesn't do it with a connected feel nor can you toss it around. OTOH, I'm sure we'd agree that's not what the LS was designed to do, it is out of its element. That being said, for folks looking for a relatively inexpensive car that's more sport than luxury, and want something at home on the back roads at or near the limit, the TL-SHAWD is a blast. It is easy to drive at the limit and with TC off, you can slide the car in a really predictable way. The fit and finish is good and it's been stone cold reliable. I've thought about getting rid of the TL and replace it with another LS at times but I can't part with the TL just yet, it's too much fun to drive. That said, I'm saving up for a LS500.

Reason: The info
Well at least we know some people actually do love the new ls, myself included (not anytime soon ) and are willing to pay a price tag for it. With the new interior that they showed in the ls500h I would easily pay 100k for it I see no reason not to. And also if I was in your place ls500 all the way it's just 10 steps above a gsf. With that said tho i do also love the gsf. So if you can get both.
I saw a rumor that said the 2018 GS F is going to get the TT V6......
Now if that one turns out to be true.... I will be glad I got the V8.....
shelly
Performance wise the TT V6 should be better than the NA V8. The GS should be lighter than the new LS, simple mods like downpipe and exhaust will allow for more boost. Toyota is known to lock down their ECU's so not sure about tunability but the aftermarket will handle that. The first gen GS-F will be a fun V8 car no doubt but a TT V6 is more appealing well to me at least.

never had a V8 so I wouldn't miss it, the TT6 does seem like it would give u more tune options and lighter.

Man, I agree with everything you said. N/A V8 sounds great. Yet I love turbo cars (especially 6 cylinders). I mean looking at what lexus has done with the new LS, it has dropped around 200 pounds partly due to shrinking the engine and adding turbos. The new car has more HP and TQ than its V8 counterpart from what I've read. We'll have to see how the car performs when released, but I think the new engine along with weight savings will make for an even better ride and handling (this is still a huge car). Either way, I'll be excited when Lexus upgrades an already good GS F engine which I would imagine increase the handling characteristics. Also hope lexus adds some more tech to their lineup/upgrade their current media system (which I've seen a lot on here talk about, including myself).
I would take the GSF all day - i would get an LS if i had a chauffeur otherwise i enjoy driving and hearing engine/exhaust noises, none of which the LS is for.
