I've never heard about failing control arms on the fifth gen LS, the fifth gen LS is not as crappy as the fourth gen, i replaced my control arms on my LS 600h at about 220.000 km's.
I think the LS 500(h) has much better arms.
At roughly how many miles or at what age do control arms require replacement?
I have a 2018 LS500 with 52,000 miles and assume they will need replacement but don’t know when they will likely need to be done.
For what it’s worth, my 2018 LS500 is at 97K miles and I haven’t had any alignment issues, suspension noises, or control arm problems. Everything is still tight and solid and feels the same as when I bought the car.
From my experience, 52K miles is still very early. These cars seem to hold up extremely well unless they’ve been abused, hit potholes hard, or had poor alignment history. Just keep an eye on tire wear and listen for clunks over bumps, but I wouldn’t assume control arms are anywhere near needing replacement.
Been driving for 64 years and don’t ever remember replacing a control arm. I may have had some bushings replaced, but don’t specifically recall doing so.
Is this a common problem with Lexus products?
