I just wanted to post in here in case others were looking for info regarding adding more power to their car.
I have an LS500 AWD executive in manganese lustre with the noble brown interior that I am in love with. I don't think I am ever going to sell this thing. However, I felt it was a bit lacking on power and could not find much info online in regard to this. I ended up getting the JB4 tuning device from burgertuning, which is a piggy back tuner, it essentially plugs into ODB2 port and TMAP ports, doesn't actually flash the ECU so can be removed on the fly if needed within minutes and will not void warranty (technically). Essentially works by slightly increasing boost pressures to the best of my knowledge.
The difference this has made has been remarkable! I test drove the 2020 S8 and 2020 S63 prior to finally deciding on the LS500 and I would say with the 93 octane tune the pickup subjectively feels somewhere between the two. I haven't formally tested 0-60 times but would say I am probably getting around 3.8-4.2 seconds. Would highly recommend!! Obviously this increases strain on the engine so proceed with caution but I have just opted to take it in for maintenance and fluid changes more often.
Thank you. I have 2018 LS F-Sport and was considering the same. Just waiting on the reliability aspect from other that used the tune. I am looking for crazy horsepower, but additional 20-50hp I think would do wonders for this car. On standby on your 0-60 and 1/4 times. I have used the dragger app to test my times and get between 4.9-5.2, 0-60 times, no where near what Lexus is officially reporting.

I'm purchasing my JB4 today. I've researched it and the Tom's Racing tuner over months now. It's time.
This is the dyno test from Burger Tuning on a 2018.
Is that a Fsport?
So thats the performance before and after debadging?
Or chome delete? Just messing!
Seeing that photo with the front wheels tied down made me think is this something for the AWD versions?
And, can those models differrentials handle the added power?
Is this a plug and play tune or a authorized shop do it for a fee?
I take it needs to be pulled if warranty is involved?
Looking forward to you guys reviewing the process. Enjoy!!

The drivetrain is overbuilt. Can handle much more than this can add. And yes it's plug and play pretty much. 3 connections. Easiest mod I've ever seen and I've built and raced many cars. If you're skeptical then leave this alone respectfully. People like myself know that every car is overbuilt and turned way down at the factory. The LS 500 drivetrain can actually handle more horsepower than the IS 500. The LS twin turbo is a torque monster, so the parts are much tougher. Just research it
To that end, if its as you say, and don't doubt it, does this factor into why toyota products are reliaable and durable?
If we take it to the limit, one might assume that margin dissipates to some degree?
I appreicate this thead and Im not considering this mod at the moment but very much enjoy reading and learning.
But make no bones about it, I enjoy the effortless power this car exibits when asking for it and the grace by which it does so!
Is more "better"? Maybe, but its more fun!!!! Enjoy.....

I just search. And I find others who have the same interests. I've modded multiple turbo cars. They all had room in how much they can handle. They don't build a car that makes 416 hp and 442 ft lbs torque and then boom everything breaks when you barely go over. That would be too risky. The parts on the LS 500 are bulkier and stronger than the parts on the IS 500 that makes 472 hp from the factory. But it actually has less torque than the LS. That's just the nature of turbo cars. They make more torque under boost than a N/A car. Some cars actually make more power than others even with the same stuff. The first DSM AWD I had I was able to get 12.88@105 mph with a completely stock turbo and internals. Mainly just more boost at that time. Another guy with the same exact car and everything similar was able to get high 11's @ 113ish mph. None of us could understand it. He just had a good one from the factory. I sold that car. In the end it made 480 hp on completely stock internals with upgraded bolt on parts. It ran mid 11's in the 120ish mph range. That car only made 195 HP from the factory. I'm only asking for 40 to 50 more hp out of this car. That's a very minimal bump, and it's a Toyota/Lexus product. Toyota/Lexus doesn't build something that breaks when it barely goes over the factory numbers. At least not purposely. On that Talon I doubled the horsepower. We have another DSM AWD now that makes 636 hp, but it isn't stock internals and has lots of things done to it. We've also owned a turbo Mustang GT. My Dad had multiple nitrous Mustangs, but I've always gone turbo. He was about to change over but he passed unexpectedly before he had the chance to.
I'm from the Netherlands, so i'm not so smart.... What about the gearbox?
They don't design things to run right at its limits on factory numbers. As I said. The drivetrain is stronger than the IS 500 V8 that makes 472 hp. They did that on purpose. LS drivetrain has to be stronger because of turbo torque.
I will add. If you're uncomfortable with adding more power or you just wouldn't like more power then don't do it It's a great car the way it is. I'm just a person that typically finds a way to get a little more power, and my track record hasn't been bad with things still being fairly reliable, because I research hard for what it can handle. I started this research January of last year. I'm confident in what it can handle now. I'm not really going to track the car, but I will occasionally enjoy having extra when I want it. I'm the type person that the people that know me always ask 'what did you do to it? I know you did something'. And it doesn't matter what I'm driving. Lol. Same with my dad and brother. They always assume we've done something to the car. It's a habit. And if it's turbocharged I'm going to find a way to get a little more boost.
