Engineers blah blah blah know what they are doing. Can we trust they are' recommending 0w- 20 just for slightly better fuel economy?

Just go mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and carry on... the small passage crap is a myth unless you were thinking of bumpin to like a 10w-60 lol.... and 0w-20 is just fine too. Interval of oil changes is more important for longevity than a small difference in viscosity

 

Yeah, you're probably right about the myth idea.But I just don't want to take a chance at this point. As a mechanic, i need a little more proof that it's not just a myth before I put it in my baby. Expensive engine!!!

All these youtube ers who say to stick to 0w 20, I'm suspicious of them and think they just want to play it safe. interesting, it seems they are just concerned about liability.
I will show this to the dealer and see what they say!
I think I will go with 5w 30 in the future.

Who's assuming that a catastrophic engine failure is a result of oil type?

 

I suppose you could show them the european spec..
