Question Maintenance

Hi everyone! I am so excited with my recent purchase. It's a used 2022 LS 500. However, I don't have any most recent maintenance work on it. It has about 30k miles. Everything has been good since I took it home for 3 weeks now.

I would like to know how does everyone typical service their LS 500? Do you take it to the dealership or just a local shop that works on Lexus? I heard that once you replace the battery you will need the proper computer to reset all the codes which most regular mechanic shops won't be able to get rid of. It has to be done through a Lexus dealer which could cost upward of $600.

Much thanks!

Just take the car to the dealership, especially if it cost only 600.in Europe I just paid about 1200 for maintenance work. This car deserves to be properly looked after

Beautiful car, congratulations. As for service, I take mine to the dealership. At the dealership they have all the resources available and the service these cars routinely. At a private garage yours would probably be the only one they have ever seen. Lexus made it I trust them to service it.

Default Battery

Battery replacement is no big deal. Any decent shop can connect a portable power supply while the battery is swapped out.
I did however get mine replaced at a Lexus dealer last December.
Battery, oil and filter change, new wiper blades= $321.
I personally would get oil and filter changes at a Lexus dealer while the engine is under warranty. That should cost about $115.
Look at your service manual and get recommended work done. For instance: spark plugs at 40,000 miles, diff. Fluid at 60,000 miles.
I intend to have my car serviced at a Lexus dealer at least up to 100,000 miles, but I suppose a good reputable shop can handle it.

Nice, This garage looks familiar. I lived in Hawaii for six years. :-)

Default 5,000 mile service

I guess you realize that those 5,000 mile dealer service visits are not all oil changes. Oil changes are every other visit (10,000) miles. 5,000 mile service is mainly for tire rotation. If you want more frequent oil and filter changes you will need to tell the dealer service rep.

Default Dealer Service

Yea just take it to the dealer. Since your at 30k next big service is spark plug at 40k.

I take mine to the dealer. Every 4k I have them change the oil and filters with the recommended service at that time. Remember oil is cheap. Engine replacement is not. Plus the other shops might have the full knowledge of working on the LS since they do not see it often vs a Lexus dealership.
