man and women get on an airliner for a long flight. They are strangers.
They exchange pleasantries.
Man says to. women, "Its a long flight, ok if we discuss politics"?
Women asks:" A Deer, Cow, and a horse all eats the same thing, grass, right?"
"Yes" the man replies.......
Women continues: "A cow poops patties, deer pellets, and horse plops its poop"
"Why is that"
The man cannot answer....
Women says: "If you don' know ****, you don't know politics!"
The Camry platform is now 'hybrid-only'. I wonder if the ES will go the same way? Their hybrid setup is the best out there BTW. Their 'synergy drive' is very unique.
U.S. and Japan reached a trade agreement yesterday that set levies at 15%
I'm certain that most dealers will use this as a chance to obfuscate the sales price and gouge. 'You know, this tariff situation is nuts'. Not to mention there really is no inventory, at least in the Northeast.
A 15% tax adds 12 grand to a base LS unless Lexus decides to absorb it.
I talked to a long-time Lexus salesman yesterday. He says the dealers have no idea what is going to happen.
I guess they can keep selling the ES, UX, NX, TX and pretty much give up on selling Japan made vehicles.
Yeah, they can title these cars, call them demonstrators, short-term leases or whatever and try to conceal the tax by discounting the car, but for the buyer who wants a brand new car, it’s going to have a six figure price tag.
Curious if they have a supply already on shore as a sort of "reserve" stashed if need be.
We not talking about a high volume seller. These cars might have already been built as 2026 models?
Been reading about the crazy depreciation of mercedes EQS. Saw one local that had a 95k msrp new with 11k miles on it, a 2023 thru autodrader for $42,000!!!! Its not a pretty car nor am I interested. Warranty for the electrical bits are to 150,000 miles. I know a car like that can break a man if out of warrenty but thats some pretty steep decline in value.
There apparently are lots of clean Nissan Leafs sitting in wrecking yards because battery replacement cost is almost more than the car is worth.
Owning an EV might be nice until you discover one day that you need to spend thousands for a new battery.
Don’t forget parts from Japan cost. If your LS is out of warranty, genuine Lexus parts costs for things like starter, water pump, alternator, suspension parts, etc. will rise, as if they weren’t high enough already.
There probably aren’t enough LS500s on the road to justify some outside source to start producing cheaper replacements.
