Default Lexus LS500 2018+ map and system update.

Hi everyone. I am an user based in Europe. I have a Lexus LS500h from 2018(MY19). I recently wanted to get update for the system and the map but the dealer said it can't be done or it doesn't exist. I am trying to do it myself and searching everywhere for an update. Can you help me? Where can i find software and instructions do to it? Has anyone have experience with updating the system on your own?

Depends on what “updates” you refer to. If it’s the multimedia one to enable CarPlay - you can do that yourself and instructions are on this site. If it’s updating the actual maps I’m working on that now (and have an appointment in a few weeks). As we understand it (Lexus tech/ writer/ myself) first you need to purchase an authorization code (it’s a separate line item - Part # PT219-HDDG6-18, named “GEN6 V18.1 Nav Map Update”) prior to TechStream allowing the map update. My appointment is on Jan 9th so I’ll report back when I remember or if someone chases me.

In the European market, the official update adding Carplay & AndroidAuto never occurred. Radio units are different.
It can be done only by unofficial update.

If you are from Europe, you actually have no updates.
The only significant one that can be done is an unofficial update, adding AndroidAuto & AppleCarplay to your car.

I did some update for it.
Can run AndroidAuto and AppleCarplay in LS500 and LC500, all is done just by software.

Wow this is amazing, on a European model? How did you do it I have spent days online and I couldn't find anything. Please share some details.

The update is done by software only. The solution integrates with the car 100%. It mixes sound from FM radio and maps

It is operated with factory buttons and dials.

Displays messages regarding maps (carplay) , spotify, etc, on the speedometer.
Exactly like the factory solution in other lexus models.

The update, as I wrote, is not official.
Unfortunately, it is also not possible to perform it in the "standard way".

The radio from the car must be removed to the table.

Currently, I make ~ 400 / 450 such activations in LS and LC from the EU market and ~90 from Asian market.

The interesting thing is that in the US version it can also be done.

I have converted about 200 of these models to the EU market.

So the head unit must be removed and sent to you or is this something that I can do?

I don't mind paying, even if this is something I can do myself with your help.
Thank you.

Its possible to run that on the US unit.

If you swap this, you will only have 3 languages (eng, esp and french) on the radio. FM radio will look for a station every 5mhz, not 0.5mhz. European navigation will stop working. You won't be able to set a watch in the car ( the time is determined from the GPS ). TSR will be gone as well.

There will also be several other smaller problems.
Such a radio from the US will have to be converted to European standards.

Only then will everything work as it should, as long as you buy a Panasonic.

If you buy a Pioneer ( Asian market ) problems will be much more.

Yes, the radio must go to me. You will not do anything yourself.

Unfortunately, you can not install this modification via USB. The unit needs to be opened. Reprogram the EMMC, ISP memories and the processor.

So TY 😉
Funny how easy it is for people to insult others on the Internet, just for the sake of thinking they are allowed to.

How long will this take and where do I have to send it? How much will this cost?

Have got any modified head unit so we can swap the units? This way I don't have to wait for too long I guess.

As for the US head unit I belive the drawbacks are not worth the swap I really like the navigation on the lexus on a motorway I believe is better than maps.

If I can have your tel number so we can further plan this will be great
.
Thank you.

First of all, let's start with the radio's software version and unit number.

You can find it below;
1. Configuration > software update ( here you take one picture )
2. Configuration > software update > model info ( second photo ).

You can send it to me in pm.
I will explain what the procedure is.

Yes, I have several radios from LS and LC.The whole thing takes about 5 hours. I can do it in one day. Therefore, there is no need to replace the unit.

Hello,

Can you help me with apple car play software for the 2020 LS 500H?
I tried to send you the current software data via PM, but I don't think I have the right to do that at the moment.
