5,000 mile maintenance
For brand new vehicles 5K and 10 K services are complimentary. For Lexus certified vehicles, from the date of purchase 4 services come at every 5K miles are complimentary. If the L-certified vehicle is within 5K or 10K miles, then L-certified 4 scheduled services (every 5K interval) starts after the manufacture offered 5K and 10K.
The service at 5,000 miles is very simple. They don't even change the oil. Currently, for all Lexus oil change is every 10K miles. So the only thing they do is rotate the tires and just inspect the vehicle to make sure everything is working normal. Dealer cost should be in the range of $150 to $200 but not to exceed belong that. If you don't have any extended warranty obligation for 5K service at the dealership, or don't have any other issue to check best is to take it to any other place to rotate the tires.

I had them change the oil in the LS at each of the 5K and 10K services. One oil change was free (of course), the other cost me $150. I plan on keeping the LS for at least ten years, and 5K is as far as I'll go between oil changes. It's money well spent to get fresh oil in there at least every 5K miles. It's interesting that the oil change interval on my IS500 (with the 5.0L V8) is 5K miles, not 10K.
OEM oil filter is $7
Crush gasket is $1
