I've looked at a lot of '07s and some have "valve springs replaced" around or before 30,000 miles. Is this a 1 time only repair or is it like the control arms and every so many miles you have to get it done again? also is the brake actuator a revolving issue or a one time fix? If I had $24,000 I would still buy the '07 and save the rest just in case. and I want one BAD

I bought the 2010 for all the reasons mentioned above. Sorry if these was already mentioned, but 2009+ added memory to the front passenger seat.

For listening to music, I've used the built-in USB audio with my iPad and the Bluetooth streaming with music on my phone. As previously mentioned, you had to buy aftermarket products to accomplish this in pre-2010 LS460's.

I also agree that by 2010, many of the reported problems, except probably control-arm issues, had been resolved by 2010. 2011 and 2012 are even better in this regard. I find the driver's seat slide-away function really useful.

One potentially nifty feature that appears lost in 2010+ is the calendar memo function. Some folks here have reported that the ML system in 2010+(?) doesn't sound as good as in 2007-2009 and/or the sound levels (volume) were higher in 2007-2009 then later. Some also prefer the slight (to me) styling differences in the earlier in 2007-2009 to 2010-2012. Compared with the changes in 2013+, these slight styling differences don't amount to much.

If you can get a good deal on a 2010 or better yet, a 2011, go for it!

The "valve springs replaced", notations are in regards to the recall that Lexus did. This was due to a batch of faulty springs that would potentially break.

Default Regarding control arms...

From the TSIB, for 2WD LS460s, the VIN cutoff for control arms is JTHBL5EF#A#098437.

I don't know where this lands model-year wise on the 460. I do know that on the 600, the corresponding VIN cutoff is within MY2010. As a self-described TSIB junkie, I checked before buying my car (which is a '10).

Maybe a little off-topic, but how do you tell model year (/month?) from the VIN?

There's a good explanation here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicl...ication_number

The manufacture year and month is on the nameplate just inside the drivers door.

Freaking me out here a little. My 2010's last 4 is about 1,000 before that one...

It's had the Front LCA (#1) replaced per Svc records...
