Default DVD-A Disks FINALLY

So I finally figured out how to make DVD-A disks for the 460. Figured I drop a little note here in case anyone else was wondering. This is for use with a Mac computer and is simple.

Download a free program called Burn for OSX.
Input whatever Flac songs you want into the program.
Click burn.

That's it. The program does everything and it works with every dvd brand I have tried.

That works. But the biggest draw about DVD-A discs is being able to get music in 5.1. Only problem is finding 5.1 music is actually a lot more difficult than it sounds.. Sometimes it involves SA-CD's or just sourcing original DVD-A content. I've found concert DVD's work pretty well also. Too bad my LS (not sure if this happens with other people) doesn't automatically resume a DVD where you left off.

Is there any way to load mp3's on a dvd and have them play in the 08 LS? When I first got the car, I burned a dvd filled with mp3's. Didn't work. Since then I have burned mp3's on cd and no problem. But oh what fun it would be to load 4.7gb of mp3's. Anyone ever find a work around?

You'd have to burn them as DVD-A. The LS won't read DVD's as data discs so take all those MP3's you have and create a DVD-A from them using greg3852's method or other burning software if you're on Windows.

I did some experimentation using a program called IMGBURN. Still didn't work. Unless you have to physically buy a disk called DVD-A, I am unaware of a DVD playing mp3's in a ML LS system.

I don't think IMGBURN burns DVD-A's.
CDBurnerXP should be able to do it and it's free. Otherwise Nero or Roxio burning software will be able to do it.
There are no special DVD-A discs. They're just normal DVD's.

You can also use Cirlinca - HD Audio Solo to burn true DVD-Audio disks.

Ok, I have a version of NERO on my computer that I burned the CD's with and trial DVD I attempted that failed. Now I am burning a dvd audio disk or what Nero calls Jukebox. I'll try it later on and see if it works.

Nope, that didn't work either. Once loaded, it never brought up any info on the screen and wouldn't play.

Next?

Look at the disk on any computer and check where the music files are. If they are in the TS_AUDIO directory then that is a true DVD-Audio disk. If the files are in the TS_VIDEO directory its a DVD-Video disk. If you create a DVD-Video disk you have to make sure there is no art work or any video on the disk as the car will not play the disk unless the parking brake is applied.

I had a 2012 LS and I was able to build DVD-Audio disks using Cirlinca. Lexus dropped the capability to play DVD-Audio disks on the 2013+ LS models. I now have to create DVD-Video disks.

Hope this helps.

Yes. It'll play them just fine. Just make sure you turn off Surround in the Audio settings to make sure you're hearing discrete 6 or 8 channel audio.
