Default Recommendations for pads and rotors?

Hi all,

I am going to do a brake job due to warped rotors. I am sure this has been discussed before, but what do you guys recommend for pads and rotors for these cars? I have 2010 LWB AWD, so it has the bigger brakes. I am familiar with brakes on euro cars and like to use Zimmerman, Bosch, ATE, etc, however those are not an option for the LS.

Thanks.

I tried several different brakes options (including some drilled and slotted combos) on my 2017 LS460 SWB RWD and figured, not worth it. I threw all these aftermarket rotors and pads out and went back to OEM stock from local Lexus dealer. I am happy so far. Had some dust first 500 miles or so but very little dust now, adequate braking and very comfortable brake pedal feeling. Had the same scenario on my 2016 ES350 as well. Unless you racing on your LS or looking for something very particular for whatever reason, just stay with OEM stuff.

Ives used r1 concept geomet drilled/slotted rotors and they were phenomenal - used powerstop z26 carbon pads and I abused those brakes - great stopping power and @30k usage - about to replace those - I’m not sure if r1 has any in stock for brembo calipers if that’s what your car has. Look up on Amazon as they sell the kits for the regular LS - make sure to go geomet rotors as they have a higher carbon content and can take a beating without warping…

powerstop pads great stopping power/initial bite if you break them in right - low dust and cost friendly

I have the same car 2010 LWB AWD and first thing I did when purchased was replace rotors and pads.

In 2017 when I purchased my 460L and it had 45K miles first thing I did was put new pads and rotors. I used a slotted Stop Tech kit.
STT-934.44028 - Stoptech Street Pack -SLT- Front & Rear.
Just last month I replaced all the pads with the same stop tech, put 50K on them. The rotors looked great and would do the same again. They had little wear, low dust and provide better stopping then the OEM that were on the car.

I second this. I went with Akebono Pro-ACT (ACT1282 and ACT1283) pads and Centric Premium (120.44148 and 120.44149) rotors. I have 95,000 miles on the rotors and 73,000 miles on the pads and am just now ready to replace them again. The combination has performed very well with minimal brake dust.

I'll third the Akebono pads if they are available for your car. They weren't available for my wife's car so I had to buy Hawk Performance Ceramic pads. They are good, but not as good as Akebono.. Their stopping performance is equal, but they are not as dust free as the Akebono.

I used JBR1352EVC and JBR1353EVC Powerstop Evolution coated with Akebono ACT1283 for the rear end and they are still great, 3 years later. 2010 AWD.

R1 Concepts (on different car) were not that good in freezing cold deep snow. It felt like the holes were filling up with ice if I did not use the brakes often.

+1 on the powerstops. I've used them on my LS430 and my 2017 Forester XT. both very good stopping power. Can be loud when wet on initial bite but once the 1st layer of rust is gone they are very smooth and quiet. Not much rotor dust either. Probably 1/2 as much dust as stock.

Be careful which pads you choose.
I got some Wagner Thermoqueits and when I put my 2008 LS460 in reverse, it squeals like crazy, but moving forward its fine.

Akebono or Advics. Both are OEM suppliers for Toyota/Lexus.

I just picked up 2 OEM rear rotors for 93.39 each. I will be taking the car in next week to get them swapped out.

I’ve been using Powerstop ceramic pads for the past 4ish yrs & R1 concepts eline rotors up front for the past 2.5yrs. IMO they’re a great inexpensive setup.

The pads are low noise & create minimal brake dust vs oem brembo pads.
