Should I buy a 2007 Ls 460?
Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I've been reading alot of post here. I have the option to buy a 2007 LS 460 for 9k. Everything I read about these cars is positive except the interior. I know the program to replace it ended. So what are other options for a reasonable price? Does this affect all cars? It seams fine now but the car has been in the garage most of its life. It currently has 42k on the clock. I would love your thoughts on the car.
Thank you!

Welcome. The 2007 LS460 is a fine car. Just keep in mind it's a 16 year old car. The interior was exchanged in a program several years ago. If you've seen the car and it appears bleached and tacky, you can always contact Lexus corporate and or your local dealer to see if this car still qualifies for the replacement. The low miles is certainly a plus. The break actuator and the control arms are possible issues and you should certainly check into that. You'd be wise to have the car inspected by an independent mechanic to check for those issues as well as anything else. For $9k and possible repairs, it's still a great car. Good luck.
Beside the interior, you're likely going to need to replace control arms with new design that will last longer. It may already have been done. Go to drivers.lexus.com, create an account and enter the VIN, you can then see dealer services. You should also have a prepurchase inspection done by a Lexus savvy shop. The problem with buying a car for such a low price is that Lexus repairs can be much more expensive than an average American car. Many have a hard time justifying $2k to repair a $9k car.
I agree with this but you can look at this another way, if you buy this car for 9k and end up spending 10k in repairs I think you're still good and will have a good car.
Unless there is a rust issue which it probably wont have because of where it's from.

So I'm truly worried about the interior and the brake booster which requires the dealer to replace. There are no rust issues. It's a New Mexico car. What are people doing now that the program has expired. Are there any other issues i should be worried about? Is 9 k to much to offer? It dosnt look like theyve done much besides the 5k oil changes. Other than that I hear people getting 400k out of these cars.
With the low mileage you must be buying from original owners, someone flipping it would be asking alot more?
The dash and panels melting must be a heat issue which you have lots of where you live so it might develop if you don't have a garage, I've never heard of it on any toyota product in the parts of Canada I have lived in. I have seen the brake issue though.
It will need trans and diff fluid changes along with brake fluid and coolant due to the model year.
I don't know what it's like there but you don't get much of a car around here for the equivalent of that price in cdn dollars. You can always offer less but you should get it inspected.
